On Sunday Afternoon Variety Shows

Before, I used to enjoy watching sunday's SOP (Sobrang Okay Pare) of GMA7 led by some of the philippine's singing giants Regine Velasquez, Lani Misalucha, Jaya, Ogie Olcasid and Janno Gibbs, and backed up by other good and talented singers like Kyla and Jay-R. Yes! Very Kapuso ako before, of course, influenced by me ex. Inaabangan ko talaga noon ang SOP every sunday no matter what. Super fan ika nga.


But when Lani left the show to pursue her singing career in Las Vegas, doon na nagsimula mag-fade ang interest ko with the show. Because for me, Lani is the greatest singer of them all. That's just for me, my entitlement to my own opinion. ASAP before was behind SOP in terms of awards and audienceship. Kaya masaya akong namamayagpag ang SOP before.

But not anymore...

SOP has turned in to a boring programme. Same thing to expect every sunday. Wala nang element of surprise. Nakakasawa na din ang mga birit ni Regine. At minsan, nako-cornyhan pa ako sa pa-sweet moments nila ni Ogie. Si Janno, paulit ulit na din at siyempre, madalas late pa din. At wala nang masyadong kinaaabangan. Same old same old.

Although they are on a bigger and better venue, kaso masyadong malaki for them. Nakakain sila masyado nang stage. They could have improved the stage design to make it look better. For me, it's too big for a sunday variety show. I wonder why they don't improve it. Suddenly, nawalan ako nang kumpyansa kay Louie Ignacio which is their director.

My blog is a true life journal. It talks about my everyday life. It's not about a blog that focuses on showbiz gaga and all chismis, or gay videos, or all about boys and hot guys in the world, nor about fashion stuff. It's all about me, based from my own definition of what "blog" is. Kaya I barely talk about showbiz stuff. I just thought of this while taking a bath the other day. After the longest time kasi, I was able to watch SOP last sunday.


ASAP has emerged so well to be a very good variety show every sunday. I can definitely tell that they put up a good show now. Although may mga portion din sila na not so good, and some people I wish could have been not part of the show (sorry for the John Lloyd fans, I don't like him), but they give a good show, showcase great talents and entertain the viewers so well (kantoboys in particular, with the exception of Lloydie, hehe).

I realized this last sunday when I found myself watching ASAP more than SOP. It means, the kapamilya show has gotten my attention more than the kapuso show. Although SOP is not a complete boring show. They have good portion pa rin naman and some interesting singers like the La Diva which sana mabigyan nang magandang break because they really sing well, of course the forever great Kyla, and some few good singers.


I just wish they improve their show. And I hope they change the director. Boring na si Louie. Old style. And wishing they would enhance their stage and program concepts. And I hope they build or find or launch talented artists for the show. Parang isiniksik na lang nila lahat nang artista nila na halos yung iba eh acting ang talent at hindi naman singing or dancing. Panghatak lang nang audience. Variety shows are for talent showcase especially in singing and in dancing..

Kung ako lang ang magdi-direct nang show, eto ang gagawin ko:

- Uunahin ko ang stage. Iibahin ko ang design. Something modern and stylish.
- Iipunin ko ang mga marunong lang kumanta at sumayaw. Hindi ako magpipilit nang hindi marunong.
- I will continue the La Diva portion pero gagawin kong solo stint. Hindi yung may kasabay sila. The three of them blends well. Panalo talaga. Pero bibigyan ko din sila nang solo portion together with Kyla. The four of them can hit solo songs well. Biritan portion.
- Ita-transform ko ang Sexbomb dancers in to a modern hip funk dancers. Hindi yung puro pang-masang sayaw. They are good dancers, pretty naman sila and sexy, yun nga lang na-stuck na sila sa masa type of thing. Patok sila sa masa kaya they can be a good audience catcher nang show.
- Tatanggalin ko si Raymond Gutierrez as host. Although he is good in hosting, but he's becoming so fat. Pababalikin ko lang siya pag pumayat na siya. But I will never get his twin Richard. He's not a good host though. I will keep Heart Evangelista. She's a good host. Pwede pang ma-develop. I will also have Dingdong Dantes as host. Panghatak audience din siya, and he can host well and actually dance. A sexy guy dancing is sexy. Hindi ko siya pakakantahin. Hindi siya para doon.
- Gagawin ko pa rin host si Ruffa Mae Quinto. Panalo ang humor kasi niya. Pero ia-add ko si Eugene Domingo. Para sila ang magde-deliver nang humor part.
- Mga aalisin ko, sila Sunshine Dizon, Marvin Agustin, at yung ibang ni-launch na singers na walang kwenta. Hehe.
- Keep pa din ang mga senior singers. Pero opening at may portion na lang sila para hindi magsawa ang tao sa kanila.
- I will have Marian Rivera doing sexy dance portion. I will improve the Saya-one portion too. Will have to pick good dancers lang talaga.

And there are so many...

Funnee how I have thought of this. Walang kwenta!!! Haha. Ewan ko ba, pinagka-abalahan ko talaga. Haha. Anyways, ASAP muna si TL for now until SOP improves. Sayang lang talaga. Hindi na katulad nang dati. Bilog nga talaga ang mundo. Nag-iiba ang panahon. Anyways, bigyan na lang ako nang GMA7 nang show, hinding hindi ko sila ipapahiya. Hehe.
