PROTEGE'S AMAZING RACE

Last team building that we had, we created our own version of Amazing Race. This is just to kick off our One Team One Summer Event. I conceptualize the idea and tailor fit it to our resources. Hazel helped me finalized the version, and we ended as the hosts of the race. Here are the 4 teams of the Protege's Amazing Race:

Green Team: Eric, Val, Joy, Sherrie & Randy

Pink Team: Abi, Yron, Ash, Kumander and Marien

Yellow Team: Drey, Roxee, Alex & Stephen

Blue Team: Raine, Angel, Carol, Cecille & Lissa

The Hosts: TL & Hazel

Before the day of the event, the guide book was given to the 4 teams so they can study the rules and regulation of the race. Each team should have one official digital camera and a video camera to document the race. Each team were given a P75.00 budget for the entire race for whatever task that will require them to buy. They were not allowed to add their own money.

There were 3 legs on the race. First was the SLEX Petron Station leg, the second was Tagaytay leg, third was Brgy. Bucal leg, and the final race is on the actual resort/beach where we will have our team building event. The race is only held on those venues. It's not a race on whose team can go first to those places, but the race happens once everyone is on the identified locations.

First leg was SLEX Petron Station leg. Pagdating doon, we invaded the area agad. We all met at Floring's BBQ Stand where we started the race. Each team was given a Race Card where tasks are written in a form of a riddle. They have to identify the task through team work. In each leg, there will be 3 tasks to accomplish. If they fail to identify and do the task, they have to repeat it.

When the hosts gave the go signal, everyone went crazy and competitively raced with each other. I wasn't expecting that. I thought they will be shy and all, but no, everyone was in to it and wants to win even if there's no million pesos at stake. They were running and shouting and giving their energy for the race. It was a nice and fun start.

The first task was to have them find Starbucks Coffee Shop and have their group take a picture of it as their background. Of course, pictures of a star and a buck were the only clues on their race card. They have to figure that out.

After the first task, the second task was to have them find the famous bus chips: La-la. They have to use their budget to buy the chips inside Select store and they must take a group picture together with the purchased item.

Yellow Team picked the wrong chips (Pillows) and left behind the race. They decided not to finish the leg and give up their score. They will just race on the second leg. The third task was, the group has to look for a stranger available in the gas station, who is wearing shorts and they must take a picture together with the stranger. It's a tough task if you are shy to deal with some strangers.

Blue Team won the SLEX Petron Station leg, followed by Pink Team, and third was Green Team. We left the gas station and went straight ahead to Tagaytay where our second leg will be held. It's time for a cold breezy race for the team.

After the race cards were given, they all read the first task which was, they have to find the Taal Volcano view and they have to take a picture of it. The only clues available in their race cards are ice cream cone and a faucet water. It became a challenging task as it took a long time for all teams to figure out what was it. They were all scattered and running in the entire area. The guards were so curioused as to what was happening. Hehe.

The second task was they have to find the only souvenir store in the area and they have to buy a souvenir item worth P10.00 using theur budget and they have to take a picture with it. Unfortunately, the store was still close at that time so the task was just to take a picture of the store together with the group.

The third task was about finding a stranger again. This time, they have to find someone who was wearing a jacket and they have to take a picture again together with the stranger. It was a challenge because there were only 2 people Hazel and I saw that were wearing jacket. Good thing they were able to find them.

It was Blue Team again who first finished all the tasks in the Tagaytay leg. We then went ahead to Lemery Batangas straight to Brgy. Bucal to conduct our 3rd leg of the race. It's where the house of nanay malou is located and that's where I decided to put the 3rd race to give a feel of provincial and local town ambience in the race.

First task was to find a Bamboo tree. This time, there were no picture in the race cards but only the scientific name of the said grass. They have to find it again and take a picture with it together with the group.

The second task was, the teams have to find a local store and they need to purchase a Marlboro cigarette using the allotted budget for them. They must take a picture of it, together with the group after they purchase it.

The third task was about looking for a stranger again, and this time, a local resident. They have to invite them for a group picture and must convince them to pose a korean signature to complete the task.

Pink Team this time won the 3rd leg. They all rested for a few minutes and then we went already to the venue of our team building, and where the final challenge will be held. When we got there, we just unloaded our stuff and started the final challenge which was held in the beach.

There was one final task and that is for them to create poses in the beach that will show the water and the sand, 3 photos that will show a comedy scene, action scene, and a drama scene. The best team that can showcase great pictures of three scenes, including the sand and the water, will get the highest scores.

Scores were tabulated before the Tag Awards was held on the same night. It was a tough race between the Pink Team and the Blue Team as they really have raced so well and did good with all the challenges. But in the end, it was the Blue Team who got the highest score amongst all competing teams and won the Protege's Amazing Race. They received a trophy, certificate and special prize for their win.

Over-all, everyone enjoyed the first activity of the One Team One Summer event. Something that each of them cannot forget. From the mommies, to the guests, to the ladies, to the sick people, to everyone who participated and all for the team spirit, Protege's Amazing race was a huge success. We are now conceptualizing our next event: Protege's Big Brother!!! Hehe. Watch out.
